When Life Isn’t As Sweet As It Could Be
Sugar is a common ingredient found in a lot of our favorite foods, from candies to pastries, to even sauces and dressings. Yet, beneath the sweetness lurks a potential for addiction and a host of health issues. When we eat sugar, our brain releases dopamine, giving us a feeling of pleasure. Over time, the brain’s reward system gets rewired, demanding more sugar to achieve the same pleasure level. Eventually, our cravings are not just psychological but also physiological, as sugar triggers the release of neurotransmitters associated with pleasure and reward.
