The Apostle Paul says that we are to endure suffering with him as a good soldier, as a soldier in active duty doesn't entangle himself in the affairs of regular life, but rather seeks to please the one who enlisted him. Our lives are not our own. Are we willing to sacrifice for the King? Are we willing to lay down our lives to serve? Are we willing to be obedient to the call regardless of cost?
