Oh Slap?! Will Smith vs Chris Rock

Oh Slap?! Will Smith vs Chris Rock
Last night at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith made history when he slapped Chris Rock on live TV. As a health and wellness podcast, the first thing that came to mind for us was mental health. At first we were asking ourselves, 'Is Will Smith ok? Why would he do something like that? Whose is at fault?'  The more we discussed this TV moment, the more our team we realized that moment was bigger than just a joke gone wrong. It was about the state of the world we're living in today. It was about the need to more openly talk about mental health and how the need to establish a more supportive environment to address mental health issues has passed its expiration date. Will Smith has been a well respected and revered human being for as long as we can remember. The fact that he did what he did on live TV says a lot about his current state of mind. Whatever he's going through impacted his ability to make a rational decision in that moment. And this needs to be addressed thoughtfully if we all want to learn and heal from this moment. Let's be honest, this was a traumatic moment for all of us.  What do Will's actions say about us? How do we address our own mental health before we lose it like he did? And what role does personal responsibility play in all of this? We explore these questions in our conversation today.  Please note, we recognize this isn't an easy topic to discuss because it touches on another person's health and well-being at a critical moment in their life. We hope our conversation inspires you to be opened minded and not too quick to judge another person's actions. You never know what someone is going through and how their personal experiences may be influencing their actions.
