Our Editor's Take

The "Walking The Floor" with Chris Shiflett podcast features Chris Shiflett, Foo Fighters guitarist. On the show, Shiflett interviews some of the biggest names in the music world and beyond. The host isn't a founding member of the Foos, but he's been in the band since the 1990s. He also has a thriving solo career. So there's no doubt about it: by now, he's a rock star.

And being a rock star helps Shiflett when it comes to hosting "Walking The Floor" with Chris Shiflett. He can sit across from a legend like Robbie Robertson of The Band and not be too intimidated. Or he can chat with his boyhood guitar idol, Ace Frehley of Kiss, and manage to contain his excitement.

But the host is not that much of a rock star. Dave Grohl is still the face of Foo Fighters, and that suits Shiflett fine as the guitarist. It allows him to remain unaffected and humble. (Not that Grohl, the undisputed "Nicest Guy in Rock," isn't humble.) And that keeps it relatable when Shiflett's interviewing younger stars like Greta Van Fleet. Shiflett knows what to ask acclaimed but still-rising artists like Andrew Leahey.

And yet Shiflett's easygoing personality translates well when chatting with nonmusicians, too. He hosts political writers (Thomas Frank) and fabled athletes (Manny Pacquiao) with confidence. New episodes of "Walking The Floor'' with Chris Shiflett come out every month or so. It depends on the rock star's busy schedule. Fans of Foo Fighters—and of interesting conversations—may enjoy this podcast.
