The host of the podcast Mindfulness Mode didn't always want to work in the mindfulness space. When Bruce Langford began his career, his focus was on bullying prevention. He led workshops and seminars in schools and trained parents. He also spoke at conventions, which is where he came across the idea of mindfulness for the first time. A woman in one of these conferences taught the concept. It was during a time in his life when Langford felt overwhelmed with his work.
The podcast host started using the techniques in his everyday life. Later, he also applied it to his work with adults and children who were suffering as a result of bullying. It was amazing and eye-opening for him to see the transformation.
One case, in particular, made all the difference. Brandon, a 21-year-old man, was a university student who suffered from severe anxiety attacks. They started when he was bullied in high school. With a part-time job and an engineering course underway, he started using drugs to deal with his anxiety. After Langford spent some time coaching Brandon on mindfulness, the young man began to feel a lot better. He could attend classes with more focus and was feeling happier. After eight months, he said he felt like a completely different person. That experience led Langford into a whole new career path. He decided to become a life coach, a hypnotist, and the podcast host of Mindfulness Mode.
The podcast has two types of episodes. The first are short, ten-minute installments, where Langford is the only speaker. He provides advice to the listeners about ways to become better at meditation. He explains how to merge mindfulness with everyday life, like in cooking or gardening.
In longer episodes, Langford hosts experts in the field. He asks them questions about both the practical and scientific aspects of mindfulness. Topics range from mindfulness for executives to psychedelics. Langford's interviews are engaging and informative. They seek to provide the listeners with the tools to become relaxed and calm in a stressful world. New episodes of Mindfulness Mode come out several times a week.
