Utah (4-10) saved its best for last on Saturday, dominating possession and momentum for almost the entirety of the second half, leaving Austin (10-4) uncharacteristically frustrated and punchless. The eight points yielded was the second-fewest in team history, and considering it came against a team like Austin had players and coaches beaming at the conclusion. For forward Chad Gough, the key was simple, “Hitting them low and hitting them hard was the key to this defensive performance,” he said while crediting defensive assistant coach Robbie Abel.

Teasing great and consistent play became a thing of the past on Saturday for the Utah Warriors, as they steamrolled the league-leading Austin Gilgronis 22-8. Inspired effort led to stifling defensive pressure, holding the Gilgronis a full 68 minutes without a try and scoreless for the game’s final 50 minutes. The game also featured the return of standouts Paul Lasike and Niall Saunders, boosting the overall effort considerably. “We really put out a performance we can be proud of out there,” said Warriors fullback Caleb Makene. “Things that weren’t coming together sort of came together and I’m pretty stoked for the boys and the performance overall.”

In the Utah Warriors’ 69-22 win over MLR newcomers Dallas Jackals, the Warriors cruised to a Major League Rugby-record 47-point margin of victory, the most points scored in a single match in MLR history, and Mikey Te’o broke the franchise record for most tries by a single player. Mika Kruse also had a hat trick, the second one in franchise history, and Coleson Warner became the 100th player capped in Utah Warriors history — and the rookie scored a try in his debut, to boot. After the better part of four seasons with Harlequins in the English Premiership, former BYU and NFL fullback Paul Lasike is returning to his original pro rugby club and signing with the Utah Warriors.  The 31-year-old center sat down with the Dubcast to talk about the move, his time in the UK, and his recovery from last summer's Achilles' tendon injury that sent him to London Scottish for rehab.  "It’s a little bit bittersweet," Lasike said. "I would like to stay out here, but with my family circumstance, it’s easier to come back. It’s awesome to come full-circle with the Warriors. "To come back and have another run there is exciting for me and my family."
