In episode 26, we had an authentic and empowering conversation about race, crypto, and financial inclusion. We explored the importance of education in black and brown communities by dramatically reducing barriers to entry and participation. And we also explored the importance of the lessons of freedom from Juneteenth as context for the broader conversation of economic empowerment.

In this time around, we decided to capture our real time reflections on the bipartisan compromise to a crypto tax provision in the Senate’s $1 trillion infrastructure bill after a vote on Monday, August 9th.  U.S. Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) announced the compromise involving Democrats, Republicans and the Treasury Department earlier in the day, saying it would exempt crypto transaction validators from a broadened definition of “broker.”  One Senator stood in the way and blocked unanimous consent over an unrelated topic. But the industry showed strength and community.  We live to fight another day on the House side soon.
