Climate Smart. Have you heard of it? It's is a key theme for this administration's U.S. Department of Agriculture. And the money for climate smart is starting to roll in. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was in Wisconsin today to celebrate one year of the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities program. These are 141 projects that got $3 billion in funding. Almost all of those projects are starting now – the ink is on the contracts and checks are getting sent out. Several groups in Wisconsin are recipients. The requirements for this money are that it has to be used in production agriculture or forestry. The projects have to A) fight against climate change and B) promote rural prosperity. In Waukesha, Vilsack commemorates the progress made so far.
